Registration Checklist:
  1. Both parents and students should read the JMB Handbook in its entirety (click the button below!).
  2. Complete the google Registration Form (click the button below!).
  3. Create your Rank One account (scroll down for instructions), and upload your completed GCPS required Physical.
  4. Pay the first installment of band dues by June 10th.

About the Jaguar Marching Band 

The Jaguar Marching Band will begin its inaugural season in the summer of 2022! Membership will include woodwinds, brass, percussion, and guard. The JMB will have several performance opportunities throughout the season: home football games, away varsity games, the GCPS Marching Band Exhibition, and various marching band competitions.

The following instrument sections will be included in JMB: Flute, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Trumpet, Mellophone (Horn), Trombone, Baritone, Sousaphone (Tuba), and Percussion. 

​In order to be elligible, students must:
  • Be in 9th-12th grade at SKG
  • Have taken band in middle school
    • See Ms. Cavender if you were not in middle school band but still want to join!
  • Register for a band class at SKG
  • Have an up-to-date physical on file with the school (GCPS Requirement)
  • Percussion students should attend as many SKG Percussion Summer Clinics as possible (see info below)

Percussion - Recommended Items to Buy

Guard - Color Guard and Spirit Guard

Color Guard (high school members) is the visual ensemble in the marching band that spins equipment (flags, rifles, sabres) and dances to enhance the overall effect of the marching band. No experience required to join! Dance experience is helpful. 

In order to be elligible, students must:
  • Be in 9th-12th grade at SKG
  • Have an up-to-date physical on file with the school (GCPS Requirement)
  • Complete the registration checklist above

Spirit Guard (middle school members) is our color guard training program and a great opportunity for students to begin learning how to spin guard equipment and dance! Students will rehearse 1-2 times and week and perform at all home games with the full marching band.

In order to be elligible, students must:
  • Be in 6th-8th grade in the SKG Cluster
  • Have an up-to-date physical on file with the school (GCPS Requirement)​
  • Complete the registration checklist above
Students do not need to take a band class in order to join the guard.

Guard and Percussion Summer Clinics - Every Wednesday in June

We will host our Guard and Percussion Summer Clinics at SKG this summer!
​
When: every Wednesday in June (beginning on June 1st), 5pm-7pm

Where: SKG at the BACK of the school outside the Main Gym Entrance
**Updated location beginning on June 8th**
- 
Car riders: enter campus from Sardis Church Road (main entrance), drive to the back of the school, and drop off at the gym entrance. Cars should exit out the back entrance of campus on W. Rock Quarry Road.
- 
Student drivers: enter campus from Sardis Church Road (main entrance), drive to the back of the school, and park in the back “Rainforest Lot”.

Who: any student that is interested in the Jaguar Marching Band Guard or Percussion sections!
- Students do not have to be registered for marching band already to attend the clinics - if you decide that you enjoyed it, come back to another clinic and we can help you sign up.
- We highly recommend all interested students attend at least one clinic to get a feel for the activity, meet the instructors, and have fun making new friends! 
- Guard is open to all rising 6th-12th graders in the SKG Cluster (no experience necessary!!). Students of all genders are welcome!
- Percussion is open to all SKG 9th-12th graders

What to bring: wear athletic clothing, bring a water bottle, and bring a friend!
- Percussion students only: bring sticks, a drum pad, and a folding music stand (if you have one)
​- Guard equipment (flags) will be provided for the students

Students who have already completed the Jaguar Marching Band Registration: these clinics will not be required; however, attendance is highly encouraged if you are in town. These clinics will be used for section bonding and learning the fundamentals to prepare for band camp in July.

Jaguar Marching Band Student Leadership Team

Student leaders are essential to the success of our program. We are looking for students that are eager and ready to serve the program! Interested students should complete the form below and attend our two leadership training sessions.

​Students with marching band experinece will be considered first for leadership roles; however, all interested students are encouraged to attend the training sessions to learn more!

Training Sessions
- Thursday, May 19th, 4:30-5:30pm
- Monday, May 23rd, 4:30-5:30pm
Both sessions will be held at JMS in the band room.

Additional Drum Major Conducting Sessions
- Thursday, May 26th, 1pm, in the Mill Creek Band Room
- Wednesday, June 1st, 5:30pm, at the back of SKG during Guard/Perc Clinics

Physicals *Required for Marching Band*

Per GCPS policy, all members of the marching band are required to have an up-to-date physical on file with the school. We will be using a new online system, Rank One, to upload physicals and complete the necessary school and county paperwork. Take the GCPS Physical Form (linked below) to your next doctors appointment and scan the document. Click the button below for instructions on how to create your Rank One account and upload the completed physical.

SKG Concert Bands

2022-2023 Band Class Registration
Students interested in being in a band class should select "Band" on their registration form. Ms. Cavender will make sure that they are placed in the correct class, based on their ability. We will start our first year with two performing concert bands:
  • Symphonic Band (Intermediate, Advanced, Mastery Band)
  • Concert Band - split into three classes
    • Woodwind (Beginning Band)
    • Brass (Beginning Band)
    • Percussion (Beginning Instrumental Ensemble)

Reminder: All marching band musicians (woodwind, brass, percussion) must be registered for a band class at SKG.
